Additional information

The experimental data on the readily biodegradability of 2 -methylimidazole are available.

In a GLP study conducted according to OECD guideline 301B the substance was determined to be readily biodegradable (67% % CO2/ThO2 after 28 days, 10 -day window criterion met). The test was performed with an activated sludge from a sewage treatment plant treating predominantly domestic sewage (BASF SE 2011, rep. No.: 22G0098/02G009). This study was selected as key study.

The substance was not biodegraded in a modified MITI test according to OECD 301C (0% BOD after 28 days; NITE, 1992).

Based on the available experimental data it can be concluded that 2-Methylimidazole CAS (693-98-1) is readily biodegradable according OECD criteria.
