Description of key information

The QSAR estimated water solubility of 2,3-Epoxypropyl Neodecanoate was 68 - 156 mg/L at 20 - 25 degrees C.  The water solubility of the test substance was also determined experimentally by an O.E.C.D. test guideline no. 105 study using the Flask method.

The water solubility of 2,3 -Epoxypropyl Neodecanoate was estimated by two different QSAR models. The O.E.C.D. Toolbox Water Sol. structural fragment QSAR model estimated a water solubilty for the test substance of 68 mg/L at 20 Degrees C. The calculated value for the diol from of 2,3 -Epoxypropyl Neodecanoate using MPBPWIN version 1.40, a subroutine of the computer program EPIWIN version 3.04, was approximately 156 mg/L at 25 Degrees C. The results of the O.E.C.D. test guideline no.105 study demonstrated that the mean water solubility of the test substance based upon three independent determinations was 70 mg/L +/- 2.9 mg/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. Therefore, the test substance is considered to be slightly soluble in water.
