Description of key information

Long-term aquatic toxicity testing is not proposed by the registrant as the substance is not classified as hazardous for the environment based on acute toxicological data and a BCF factor <<500. In addition the result of the environmental assessment showed that the PECs (Predicted Exposure Concentrations) are very low and the RCRs (Risk Characterization Ratios) are <1 and therefore the use of the substance can be considered safe for the aquatic compartment.

Furthermore, data from a reproductive toxicity study to invertebrates on the corresponding alcohol 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluorooctanol support the absence of long-term toxicity of the reference substance as the NOEC observed in this study was more than an order of magnitude higher than the maximum water solubility of the reference substance.

Therefore, no long term testing for invertebrates is proposed.
