Description of key information

Water solubilities of the major compounds of Modified Small Vinyl Ester was evaluated using a guideline study with no deviations and compliant with GLP. The water solubility of Modified Small Vinyl Ester was calculated to 8 mg/L as a weighted average of the solubilities of the two main constituents (bisGMA and monomaleic adduct of bisGMA). Thus, Modified Small Vinyl Ester is slightly soluble.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
8 mg/L

20 °C

Additional information

The flask method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of Modified Small Vinyl Ester. The water solubility of Modified Small Vinyl Ester was calculated to 8 mg/L as the weighted average of the measured solubilities of its main constituents bisGMA (based on the m/z 530.49 -> 142.85 transition) and monomaleic adduct of bisGMA (based on the m/z 628.51 -> 142.85 transition), respectively 4.18 x 10-4 g/L and 3.76 x 10-2 g/L. These transitions are evaluated to represent BisGMA and mono adduct of BisGMA, major constituents of Modified Small Vinyl Ester.

The water solubility of Modified Small Vinyl Ester is calculated to 8 mg/L, based the approximate content of the main constituents (approximately 57.5% bisGMA and 14.5% monomaleic adduct of bisGMA ).
