Description of key information

A guideline study with no deviations and compliant with GLP showed that the surface tension of an aqueous solution at 90% of the saturation solubility of Modified Small Vinyl Ester was 61.1 mN/m at 20 °C. According to this, the test substance is considered not to be surface active.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
61.1
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
7.2

Additional information

The OECD harmonized ring method was applied for the determination of the surface tension of Modified Small Vinyl Ester.

The surface tension of an aqueous solution at 90% of the saturation solubility of Modified Small Vinyl Ester was 61.1 mN/m at 20 °C. According to this, the test substance is considered not to be surface active.

The water solubility of Modified Small Vinyl Ester was calculated to 8 mg/L, cf. section 4.8. Thus, tested solution contained approximately 7.2 mg/L.
