Genetic toxicity: in vitro
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- in vitro gene mutation study in bacteria
- Remarks:
- Type of genotoxicity: gene mutation
- Type of information:
- migrated information: read-across based on grouping of substances (category approach)
- Adequacy of study:
- weight of evidence
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: see 'Remark'
- Remarks:
- The read across chemical sodium lauryl sulphate has been identified as 80-90% structurally similar with target chemical sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate. This read across further screened in a two stage approach, first stage where in the generic categorisation is done based upon the functional group and mechanistic approach. In the second stage; the read across chemical is further screened based upon endpoint specific criteria. In addition, the target chemical and the read across substance have density and Log Kow values in a narrow range. Thus, they are expected to exhibit comparable toxic or alternatively non-toxic profile.
