TEST ORGANISM
- Source: Haskell Laboratory
- Age at study initiation (mean and range, SD): Less than 24 hours old
- Method of breeding: Parent Daphnia magna were reared at Haskell Laboratory in 250 mL Pyrex beakers (1 per beaker) which contained 200 mL of (autoclaved) FFTWater held at approximately 20°C. Daphnids were fed 2 algal species, Ankistrodesmus falcatus and Selenastrum capricornutum, at a rate of 250000 cells/mL of each species, three times weekly during water renewal. Neonates were collected from 12 day old parent daphnids for use in this test.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
This study established a 48-hr EC50 in daphnids of 1.4 mg/L.
Executive summary:

oPDA was tested with Daphnia magna in an unaerated, static, 48-hour test with test solution renewal at 24 hours. Nominal concentrations were 0.041, 0.10, 0.26, 0.64, 4.0 and 10 mg/L. Mean measured concentrations were 0.022, 0.072, 0.22, 0.57, 1.8, 3.6, and 9.0 mg/L, respectively. The 48-hour EC50 based on mean measured concentrations and immobility was 1.4 mg/L.
