Results and discussion

Relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
260 °C
Remarks on result:
other: For 1:1 mixture with kieselguhr
Remarks:
at atm. press. of ca.1013.0 hPa

Any other information on results incl. tables

In the Grewer oven test with the neat substance, no self-ignition is observed. No exothermal reaction was observed up to 420°C since the sample melted at around 260°C and flowed from the basket prior to reaction with air.

The 1:1 mixture with kieselguhr showed a first exothermal (decomposition) reaction at 260°C and a second one at 360°C, the latter leading to a temperature increase to more than 650°C. At 260°C, sample temperatures increase to approximately 440°C.

The self-ignition temperature is therefore given for the 1:1 mixture with kieselguhr.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The neat substance shows no self-ignition and the 1:1 mixture with kieselguhr has a self-ignition temperature of 260°C.
Executive summary:

In a screening test according to Grewer, the neat substance shows no self-ignition and the 1:1 mixture with kieselguhr has a self-ignition temperature of 260°C.
