Description of key information

Biodegradable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The biodegradability of 2 -chloroethanol was investigated based on the OECD guidelines 302 B and 301 F, combining DOC removal and CO2 production. After the 28 d exposure period, DOC removal was greater than 95 %, and CO2/ThOD amounted to 88 % (Strotmann et al., 1995). 2 -chloroethanol is thus considered biodegradable.
