Description of key information

Acutely toxic for aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of 2 -chloroethanol to aquatic algae was investigated following the german guideline DIN 38412, part 9, with Scenedesmus subspicatus as test organism. For the exposure period of 72 hours, an LC50 value of 5.6 mg/L was derived, based on growth rate (BASF AG, 1990).
