Description of key information

The flash point of Modified Small Vinyl Ester was measured according to the guideline with no deviations and compliant with GLP. Three measured flash points were not consistent. Thus, the flash point for Modified Small Vinyl Ester is reported as equal to, or larger than, the lowest temperature at which Modified Small Vinyl Ester ignited, i.e. ≥ 137.5 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
137.5 °C

Additional information

The Pensky-Martens closed cup method was applied for the determination of the flash-point of Modified Small Vinyl Ester. In the main study testing was repeated three times. The results obtained were not consistent, probably due to the nature of Modified Small Vinyl Ester. It was concluded that it is not possible to determine the flash point of Modified Small Vinyl Ester accurately. The lowest temperature at which Modified Small Vinyl Ester ignited was 137.5°C. Based on the results, the flash point for Modified Small Vinyl Ester is reported as equal to, or larger than, the lowest temperature at which ignition was observed, i.e. ≥ 137.5 °C.
