Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
toxicity to terrestrial arthropods: short-term
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
other information
Reliability:
4 (not assignable)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
secondary literature
Principles of method if other than guideline:
acute toxicity of 2,3-dichloronitrobenzene to Drosophila melanogaster was tested by injection of a solution the test substance into the fly and by feeding of a solution of the test substance
GLP compliance:
not specified
Analytical monitoring:
not specified
Vehicle:
yes
Details on preparation and application of test substrate:
- a stock solution was prepared in 0.6-3% of ethanol in water
- in case of the injection test the stock solution was diluted with a 0.7% solution of sodium chloride in water
- in case of the feeding test the stock solution was diluted with a 5% solution of saccharose in water
Test organisms (species):
Drosophila melanogaster
Animal group:
Diptera (fruit fly (small))
Details on test organisms:
- only male flies were tested
Nominal and measured concentrations:
- in both experiments (injection + feeding) a nominal concentration of 20 mg/l was tested

Injection test (24 hours)

LC11 = 20 mg/l

Sterility rate: 1%

Feeding test (72 hours)

LC30 = 20 mg/l

Sterility rate: 2%

Conclusions:
acute toxicity of 2,3-dichloronitrobenzene to Drosophila melanogaster was tested by injection of a solution the test substance into the fly and by feeding of a solution of the test substance. Only male flies were tested. A LC 50 = 20 mg/L was derived (sterility).
Executive summary:

acute toxicity of 2,3-dichloronitrobenzene to Drosophila melanogaster was tested by injection of a solution the test substance into the fly and by feeding of a solution of the test substance. Only male flies were tested. A LC 50 =  20 mg/L was derived (sterility).

Description of key information

For transported isolated intermediates according to Reach, Annex XVIII, this endpoint is not a data requirement. However, data is available for this endpoint and is thus reported under the guidance of "all available data".
