Immediately remove contaminated clothing.
If difficulties occur after vapour/aerosol has been inhaled, remove to fresh air and seek medical attention.
On skin contact:
Wash off immediately and thoroughly with soap and water, and rinse with plenty of water for at least 15min.. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
On contact with eyes:
Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open,
consult an eye specialist.
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.
Note to physician:
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.
Suitable extinguishing media:
water spray, foam, dry extinguishing media (e.g. dry powder)
Unsuitable extinguishing media for safety reasons:
harmful vapours. Evolution of fumes/fog. The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of fire.
Special protective equipment:
Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and a protective suit.
The degree of risk is governed by the burning substance and the fire conditions. Cool containers/tanks with water spray. Fire residues and contaminated extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local/official regulations.
High risk of slipping in case of leakage/spillage of product (low viscosity).
Avoid contact with the skin, the eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing. Ensure adequate ventilation. Breathing protection required.
Contain contaminated water/firefighting water. Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.
Methods for cleaning up or taking up:
For large amounts: Pump off product.
For small amounts/residues: Pick up with suitable absorbent material. Immediately dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations.
Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations.
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Prohibit contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling chemicals. The substance/product may be handled only by appropriately trained personnel. Facility parts must be checked for polymer residues and cleaned on a regular basis in order to avoid hazardous reactions.
Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Encapsulation or exhaust ventilation reauired. When filling, transferring or emptying of containers, adequate local exhaust ventilation is necessary. Vent waste air to atmosphere only through suitable separators. Check the condition of seals and connector screw threads. Do not open warm or swallen product containers. Remove persons to safety and alert fire brigade.
The temperatures that must be avoided are to be considered. Protect against heat. Protect from direct sunlight. Protect content from the effects of light.
Ensure adequate inhibitor and dissolved oxygen level.
Because of the possible separation from the stabilizer, the product should never be partially melted and taken. Ensure there is no crystallized product in the container before use. Obtain nformation from supplier/manufacturer before dissolving totally or partially crystallized product. The ambient temperature of the container should not exceed the stated temperature limit when melting the product or keeping it at moderate temperature.
Protection against fire and explosion:
Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Heated containers should be cooled to prevent polymerization. If exposed to fire, keep containers cool by spraying with water. Emergency cooloing must be provided in case of occurance of a fire in the vicinity. Sealed containers should be protected against heat as this may result in pressure build-up.
Prior to storage, ensure that the transfer equipment used and the intended storage containers do not contain other substances/products. Before transfer into storage, identity of the product must be proven. The entrance into storage rooms must be granted only to appropriately trained personnel.
Further information on storage conditions: Protect against heat. Protect from the effects of light. The stabilizer is only effective in the presence of oxygen. All storage containers should be equipped with high temperature alert devices. Even if the product is stored and handled as prescribed/indicated, it should be used within the indicated duration of storage.
Storage temperature: 10 - 35°C. Storage duration: 12 months. The stated storage temperature should be noted. Avoid prolonged storage. Do not store with less than 10% headspace above liquid. Storage stability is based upon ambient temperatures and the described conditions. Shelf life is limited, thus see product information leaflet.
If storage temperature reaches 45°C: a restabilization system should be used.
If storage temperature reaches 60°C: all personnel in a greater area should be evacuated, and the container should be cooled down.
Personal protective equipment
Suitable respiratory protection for higher concentrations or long-term effect: Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A). respiratory protection in case of release of vapors or aerosol:
Respiratory protection in case of vapors or aerosol release: Ambient-air independant respirator, i.e. compressed air line device with helmet or hood according to EN 14594. Blower-assisted respirator with helmet or hood, type TH2-A2P2 according to EN 12941.
Disposable protective overall with hood, type 4 according EN 14605.
2- Hand protection:
Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374) made of suitable materials, especially when prolonged, direct contact. Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding to permeation time > 480 min. according to EN 374. Recommended for short-term contact and/or splashes: At least protective index 2, corresponding > 30 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374):
butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm thick
nitrile rubber (NBR) - 0.4 mm thick
Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice
may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.
Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.
Replace gloves immedialtely when torn or any change in appearance (dimension, color, flexibility ...) is noticed.
3- Eye protection:
Tightly-fitting safety glasses with side-shields (frame/cage goggles) (e.g. EN 166) or face-shield.
4- Body protection:
Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).
General safety and hygiene measures:
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wearing of closed work clothing is required additionally to the stated personal protection equipment.
Environmental protection controls:
Do not allow materail to contaminate ground water system.
No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.
Possibility of hazardous reactions:
The product is stabilized against spontaneous polymerization prior to dispatch.
The product can polymerize if the shelf life or storage temperature are greatly exceeded. Heat develops during polymerization. Reacts with peroxides and other radical components.
Incomplete combustion and thermolysis produce potentially toxic gases, such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
Conditions to avoid:
Avoid heat. Avoid low oxygen content above the product, i.e. not less than 5%. Avoid UV-light and other radiation sources with high energy. Avoid direct contact with water. Avoid temperatures below the crystallization range. take precautionary measures against static discharge.
This product and its containers must be disposed of as hazardous waste. It must be dumped or incinerated in accordancewith local regulations.Must be dumped or incinerated in accordance with local regulations.
Contaminated packaging: disposal must be done according to offical regulations. Packs that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of in the same manner as the contents.
Uncontaminated packaging can be re-used.
