Description of key information

A study on toxicity to the freshwater algae Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata of TCPP was performed according to OECD Guideline 201 (Alga, Growth Inhibition Test). The test gave an EC50 and an EC10 value for effects on growth of 82 mg/L and 42 mg/L, respectively and a NOEC of 13 mg/L after a test duration of 72 hours.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
82 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
13 mg/L

Additional information

Results for three algal growth inhibition tests, two with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (also referred to as Selenastrum capricornutum and Raphidocelis subcapitata) and one with Scenedesmus subspicatus are available.

Only one test toward Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata fulfilled all of the validity criteria and is used to draw a conclusion on toxicity to algae. In this test analytical monitoring was carried out. The results are expressed relative to nominal concentrations because measured concentrations were within 80-120% of nominal.
