The ready biodegradability of TCPP was determined in a test conducted according to OECD TG 301 E (Ready biodegradability: Modified OECD Screening Test). 14 % degradation was observed after 28 days. Based on this result the substance is regarded as not readily biodegradable.

Inherent biodegradability of TCPP was assessed in a prolonged closed bottle test, performed according to EU Method C.6 showing that the oxygen consumption was equivalent to complete mineralisation at the end of the study (84 days). In a SCAS test conducted according to the OECD TG 302 A guideline, inherent biodegradability of TCPP was determined over a period of 64 days. The biodegradation percentage calculated was 95. Based on these results, the substance can be considered as inherently biodegradable under aerobic conditions. Nevertheless, for risk assessment purposes the substance is evaluated as “inherently biodegradable not fulfilling the criteria”.
