Description of key information

The partition coefficient of the test substance was determined by the HPLC method according to EU Method A.8 and OECD 117 to be log Pow of -0.269 at 25 °C and pH of 6.7.

The key study is a Klimisch-1, GLP-compliant study, sponsored by the Epoxy Resin Consortium and carried out in 2010 by the Výzkumný ústav organických syntéz a.s. (Čížek K) according to OECD 117 and EU Method A.8 (HPLC estimation). The partition coefficient of the substance was estimated by comparison of the substance’s retention time compared to the retention times of six reference compounds (2-butanone (CAS 78-93-3), benzyl alcohol (CAS 100-51-6), methyl benzoate (CAS 93-58-3), ethyl benzoate (CAS 93-89-0), naphthalene (CAS 91-20-3), and biphenyl (CAS 92-52-4)).

As the test substance produced a wide uneven peak, the partition coefficient was determined based on the retention times of the active ingredient (ca. 1.22 minutes), the lower limit of the peak (ca. 1.07 minutes), and the upper limit of the peak (ca. 3.13 minutes). The partition coefficient of the test substance was estimated as log Pow, and was reported as -0.2692 ±0.897 (pH = 6.7, 25 °C) with a lower limit of -1.267 ±0.1.123 and an upper limit of 2.306 ±0.563.

Since the log Pow was below the lower limit of the method (lower limit = 0 log units), the results are considered less reliable, but confirm that the test substance components ahve very little potential for bioaccumulation, if any.
