Description of key information

Based on available partitioning data for titanium metal between surface water and riverine sediments,  titanium compounds like titanium carbide are expected to have a very low mobility in soil.  These data are used in a read-across approach to cover the endpoint requirements for the REACH registration of titanium carbide (TiC). Thus, significant exposure of aquatic and terrestrial species by soluble Ti ions released from TiC is not expected to occur in the environment.
