Additional information

Based on available data for titanium dioxide for aquatic species, as well as for titanium metal and titanium trichloride for terrestrial plants, bioaccumulation of titanium compounds is expected to be very low. These data are used in a read-across approach to cover the endpoint requirements for the REACH registration of titanium carbide (TiC).

In addition, no release of Ti from TiC could be detected in the T/D Test (OECD). The method detection limit was 0.4 µg/L. Thus, significant exposure of aquatic and terrestrial species by soluble Ti ions released from TiC is not expected to occur in the environment.
