Description of key information

Considering the chemical structure of the substance and taking Appendix 6 of UN ‘Manual of Tests and Criteria’ (table A 6.1) for the use of screening procedures to assess explosive properties, and the ECHA Endpoint specific guidance (R.7a) into consideration, the reference substance is considered not to contain any chemical groups indicating explosive properties. The above is confirmed by the DTA analysis showing no exothermic reaction below 1000 °C. Further testing was omitted and zirconium sulfate is concluded not to have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Considering the chemical structure of the substance and taking Appendix 6 of UN ‘Manual of Tests and Criteria’ (table A 6.1) for the use of screening procedures to assess explosive properties, and the ECHA Endpoint specific guidance (R.7a) into consideration, the reference substance is considered not to contain any chemical groups indicating explosive properties. The above is confirmed by the DTA analysis showing no exothermic reaction below 1000 °C. Zirconium sulfate is concluded not to have explosive properties and needs thus not be classified for this endpoint.
