EC number: 701-028-2
CAS number: -
Not a carcinogen based on older chronic studies and no evidence of mutagenicity.
Classification and labelling:This chemical is not classifiable as a carcinogen according to the criteria of the European Union.
There are no reliable study available on carcinogenicity, however, on the basis of the information currently available on mutagenicity, TNPP is considered as a non-genotoxic substance, so concerns for cancer caused by a genotoxic mechanism are low.
Considering the potential for carcinogenicity by a non-genotoxic mechanism, no evidence of a significant increase of tumour incidence was found in the 2-year chronic studies carried out on a small sample of rats and dogs. Although only limited data are available, these data tend to indicate that TNPP is not of concern for a carcinogenic potential.
