Description of key information
Reaction Mass of 3,3-diphenylhexamethyltrisiloxane and 3,3,5,5-tetraphenylhexamethyltetrasiloxane hydrolyses to trimethylsilanol and diphenylsilanediol with a hydrolysis half-life of greater than 48 hours. Therefore, the environmental hazard assessment is based on the properties of the parent substance in accordance with REACH guidance for Chemical Safety Assessment (Chapter R.16; ECHA, 2016).
Trimethylsilanol and diphenylsilanediol are the expected final products of hydrolysis reactions for both constituents under the conditions of a hydrolysis laboratory study. However, other biotic or abiotic reactions may occur over longer time-scales in the environment.
