Description of key information

In toxicity to microorganism study for 4-Chlororesorcinol the physiological effect was evaluated by using QSAR model, the effect concentration (EC50) of 4-Chlororesorcinol was estimated to be 1115.2362 mg/l for Pseudomonas putida

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
1 115.236 mg/L

Additional information

Toxicity to micro organism was assessed for the target compound hydrogen [4-[4-(diethylamino)-2',4'-disulphonatobenzhydrylidene]cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene]diethylammonium, sodium salt (129-17-9) and its related read- across. The summary of the results are presented below:

The Toxicity to microorganism study predicted from SSS QSAR; 2016 for test substance hydrogen [4-[4-(diethylamino)-2',4'-disulphonatobenzhydrylidene]cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene]diethylammonium, sodium salt indicate that the effect concentration (EC10) of test substance was estimated to be 1115.2362 mg/l for Pseudomonas putida for 16 hrs.

Whereas experimental study (TOXICOLOGY AND APPLIED PHARMACOLOGY 39 , 111-117 (1977)) for read across substance Brilliant blue FCF (Cas no. 3844-45-9)indicate that the Brilliant blue FCF on the survival time of Paramaecium caudatum was measured microscopically for 20 min. Concentration of food dye in the bathing fluid was 0.1 or 1 .0%.

During the experiment the all the Paramaecium caudatum species survive even after the lapse of 14.68 min at dose concentration of 0.1%.

From same experimental source (i.e TOXICOLOGY AND APPLIED PHARMACOLOGY 39, 111-117 (1977)) for read across substance i.e Fast green FCF (Cas no. 2353-45-9) indicate that Fast green FCF on the survival time of Paramaecium caudatum was measured microscopically for 20 min. Concentration of food dye in the bathing fluid was 0.1 or 1 .0%.

During the experiment the 36.7% mortality observed of test organism i.e Paramecium caudatum after of 17.28 min.which is not consider to be very toxic.

Based on above available studies it is concluded that the substance hydrogen [4-[4-(diethylamino)-2',4'-disulphonatobenzhydrylidene]cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene]diethylammonium, sodium salt (129-17-9) was consider to be non toxic to micro organisms.
