Description of key information

The half-lives for 13-ethyl-3-methoxy-4,6,7,8,9,11,12,13,14,15,16,17-dodecahydro-1H-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-17-ol at 25 °C are lower than 1 hour at pH 4, 27.8 hours at pH 7 and 31.6 days at pH 9.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
27.8 h
at the temperature of:
25

Additional information

The study was conducted with the D-Enantiomer of 13-ethyl-3-methoxy-4,6,7,8,9,11,12,13,14,15,16,17-dodecahydro-1H-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-17-ol. As, except in chiral environment, D-enantiomer and racemate should show the same behaviour, the same rate of hydrolysis as determined for the D-Enantiomer at pH 4, 7 and 9 can be expected for 13-ethyl-3-methoxy-4,6,7,8,9,11,12,13,14,15,16,17-dodecahydro-1H-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-17-ol.

Therefore 13-ethyl-3-methoxy-4,6,7,8,9,11,12,13,14,15,16,17-dodecahydro-1H-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-17-ol can be considered as not hydrolytically stable in the pH range 2-10, which is of relevance for biological systems.
