No chronic test on fish is available for dipropylene glycol methyl ether.
Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is not
classified as dangerous for the environment. Dipropylene glycol methyl
ether is readily biodegradable and has very low potential for
bioaccumulation (log Kow <1). The EC 50s/LC50s - based on acute toxicity
data in fish, Daphnia and algae - are higher than 1000 mg/l. Therefore
it can be considered as non-hazardous for the environment. According
to REACH Annex IX requirements, long-term toxicity testing shall only be
considered when the chemical safety assessment indicates the need for
further investigations. Hence, long-term testing in fish can be waived
for dipropylene glycol methyl ether.
