Description of key information

A GLP study according to OECD Guideline 201, EU Method C.3 and EPA OTS 797.1050 is available for dipropylene glycol methyl ether and was used as a key study. A supporting study using the marine alga Skeletonema was also available.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

The EC50 is greater than 1000 mg/L (nominal), as the highest concentration tested in this study induced no effect on the growth rate. The NOEC value corresponds to the highest concentration tested in this study (1000 mg/L). A second marine study using Skeletonema reported an EC50 value for growth rate of 6,999 mg/L.
