Description of key information

At pH 7 2,4 -pentanedione peroxide is rather stable with a half-life of 200 hours at 20 °C. At pH 9 hydrolysis is much faster with a half-life of 12.5 hours at 20 °C.

A ready biodegradability test is also available. The conclusion from that study is that 2,4 -Pentanedione peroxide is readily biodegradable.

From these two findings it can be concluded that 2,4 -pentanedione peroxide is not persistent.

Bioaccumulation was not tested as 2,4 -Pentanedione peroxide has a low log Kow of 1.1, therefore bioaccumulation is not expected.

Adsorption onto soil and sediment is not expected either due to the low log Kow, ready biodegradability and high water solubility.
