- Details on test solutions:
- To produce the highest test concentration (1 mg/L) the test substance was added daily to 5 litre of dilution water, then treated with an ultra turrax for 60 seconds and afterwards stirred for 24 hours on a magnetic stirrer. Finally undissolved particles of the test substance were removed by filtration. The test concentrations 0.125, 0.25, and 0.5 mg/L were prepared daily by diluting a stock solution (0.5 mg/L) and treated in the same way as the test concentration 1 mg/L.

- Details on results:
- All results are expressed in terms of mean measured concentrations. Measured concentrations ranged from 62.4 - 92% of nominal values in the freshly prepared medium and from 20-52% of nominal values after 24 hours of exposure (semi-static)
- Sublethal observations / clinical signs:
One test fish had a somewhat larger size than the one recommended in the test guideline for the zebra fish. This deviatiation is not regarded to be relevant to the results. The temperature fluctuation in the course of the study exceeds 1 °C which is not regarded to be relevant to the results.
- Conclusions:
- After 96 hours of exposure an LC0 of 0.053 mg/L and an LC100 of 0.3 mg/Lwas measured for the test substance towards fish. The geometric mean of the two values corresponding to the LC50 value is 0.13 mg/L. All results are expressed in terms of mean measured concentrations. Measured concentrations ranged from 62.4 - 92% of nominal values in the freshly prepared medium and from 20 - 52% of nominal values after 24 hours of exposure (semi-static test setup)
- Executive summary:
The study was conducted in accordance with EEC Methods for Determination of Ecotoxicity Annex to Directive 92/69/EEC (O.J. No. L383A, 29.12.92) Part C, Method 1 'Acute toxicity for Fish' which is in most parts equivalent to the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 203 'Fish, Acute Toxicity Test'. Groups of ten fish of the recommended size were exposed under semi-static conditions to a range of concentrations, nominally 0.125, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg/L of test item dissolved in water. Auxiliaries used to prepare the ·test media were an ultrasonic bath, a magnetic stirrer and folded filters. Observations were made on the numbers of dead fish and the incidence of sub-lethal effects after 2, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours of exposure. After 96 hours of exposure both an LC 0 of 0.053 mg/L and an LC 100 of 0.3 mg/L was measured. The geometric mean of the two values corresponding to the LC50 value is 0.13 mg/L. All results are expressed in terms of mean measured concentrations. Measured concentrations ranged from 62.4 - 92% of nominal values in the freshly prepared medium and from 20 - 52% of nominal values after 24 hours of exposure.
