Additional information

The requirement to test the substance for octanol-water partition coefficient is waived because in contact with water the chlorosilanes which make up > 60% of the substance rapidly hydrolyse to form silanediols and hydrogen chloride. The Log Kow of the silanol hydrolysis products have been calculated using a recognised calculation method. The values obtained are 3 (2 -methylbutane), 2.7 (tetramethysilane), 0.6 (dimethylsilanol), -2.9 (silanetriol), -1 (methylsilanediol). The submission substance hydrolyses very rapidly so the partition coefficient of the hydrolysis product is considered more relevant for regulatory purposes than the partition coefficient of the submission substance. The log P values for the consituents were adjusted based on w/w% contribution to GLS-Silane and summed to obtain an esimated Low Kow for GLS-Silane of 0.288.
