Description of key information

25.52 % of the particles had a diameter of < 100 μm which belongs to the inhalable fraction (the mass fraction of particles that can be inhaled by nose and mouth). However, only 3.04 % of the particles had a diameter of < 10 μm, which belongs to the thoracic fraction (the mass fraction of particles that passes the larynx) and only 2.98% had a diameter of < 5 μm, which belongs to the respirable fraction (the mass fraction of particles that reaches the alveoli). Consequently, approximately 75% of the particles are not included in the inhalable convention because they have a diameter that ranges from 100 – 500 μm.
