Description of key information

Due to the immediate hydrolysis of SIKA Hardener MH upon contact with water experimental determination of the partition coefficient was technically not feasible. The test method for the determination of the partition coefficient according to test guideline A.8 of EC Regulation 440/2008 was replaced by a theory based evaluation. The resulting log Kow  was 2.95.

The purpose of this expert statement was to evaluate the octanol-water partition coefficient (Kow) of the test substance SIKA Hardener MH. The determination of the octanol-water partition coefficient (Kow), according to test guideline A.8 of EC Regulation 440/2008, was replaced by a theory based evaluation. Due to the immediate hydrolysis of SIKA Hardener MH upon contact with water, experimental determination of the partition coefficient was technically not feasible.   Experimental determination of the log Kow of SIKA Hardener MH was replaced by calculation using US EPA EPIWIN (v4.0). The resulting log Kow was 2.95 and the respective Kow was 891.3.
