Additional information

The PNEC derivation was justified as follows:

PNEC freshwater sediment:

K_(susp-water) = 1.88

RHO_(susp) = 1150

Conversion factor (wwt -> dwt): 4.6

PNEC_freshwater sediment

= (K_(susp-water)/ RHO_(susp)) * PNEC_water * 1000

= (1.88/1150) * 5.24E-02 * 1000

= 0.085 mg/kg-ww -> 0.394 mg/kg-dw

PNEC marine water sediment:

K_(susp-water) = 1.88

RHO_(susp) = 1150

Conversion factor (wwt -> dwt): 4.6

PNEC_marine water sediment

= (K_(susp-water)/ RHO_(susp)) * PNEC_marine water * 1000

= (1.88/1150) * 5.24E-03 * 1000

= 0.0085 mg/kg-ww -> 0.0394 mg/kg-dw

PNEC soil:

K_(soil-water) = 1.38

RHO_(soil) = 1700

Conversion factor (wwt -> dwt): 1.13

PNEC_soil

= (K_(soil-water)/ RHO_(soil)) * PNEC_freshwater * 1000

= (1.38/1700) * 5.24E-02 * 1000

= 0.0425 mg/kg-ww -> 0.048 mg/kg-dw

Conclusion on classification

Acute (short-term) aquatic hazard:

Algae is the most sensitive aquatic species with an EC50 of 52.4 mg/L. In conclusion, the substance has not to be classified with regard to acute toxicity according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the twelfth time in Regulation (EU) 2019/521.

Chronic (long-term) toxicity:

Algae is the most sensitive aquatic species with an EC50 (72 -h) of 52.4 mg/L, an EC10 of 14.3 and a NOEC of 20.6 mg/L. In a ready biodegradability test, it was shown, that the substance was not ready biodegradable. Thus, the substance has to be classiffied as environmental chronic toxic cat. 3 (H412: Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the twelfth time in Regulation (EU) 2019/521.
