The DSC analysis of the test item showed no repeatable phase transition signal at or around the temperature were the material appeared to become liquid according to the visual observation in the melt microscope (start liquefaction at 110 °C, clear point at 125 °C). This indicates that the tesi item does not provide a thermodynamic melting point but a viscosity drop around 125 °C. The recorded reproducible phase transition at 41.3 °C (evaluated as peak top average of the second and third heating period in the DSC main test) may be attributed to a melting behaviour of a by-product, however, does not represent the entire product. Thus, for the description of the melting behaviour of the test item only a clear-point can be stated 125 °C.
The melting temperature of Reaction product of lauryl-PDA/lauryl-DETA with chloroacetic acid (freeze dried) was determined by differential scanning calorimetry and visual methods according to the OECD Test Guideline 102 [adopted on 27 July 1995] and EU method A.1. No thermodynamic melting point was detected. A clear point was reached at 125 °C (1020 hPa).
