EC number: 310-288-2 | CAS number: 161907-78-4 A complex mixture of oxygenated hydrocarbons produced by the distillation of residues from the manufacture of ethylene glycol monoethyl ether. It consists predominantly of a mixture of di-, tri-, tetra- and pentaethylene glycol monoethyl ethers having carbon numbers predominantly in the range C6 to C12 and boiling in the range of approximately 200°C to 300°C (392°F to 572°F).

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with soap and water. Get medical attention if skin cracking or redness occurs.
Eyes: Flush eye with large quantities of water for at least 10 minutes holding the eye open. Avoid contaminating unaffected eye.
Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Keep patient warm and at rest. Give 240-300 ml water to drink ( only if patient is conscious). Repeat if patient vomits. Get medical attention if patient is unwell. Get medical attention if a large quantity is ingested.
Fire-fighting measures
Fire/explosion hazards: Combustible material. Burns but does not ignite readily. Containers may explode in a fire.
Extinguishing media: Suitable: Alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide, water mist. Unsuitable: Water in a jet.
Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Environmental precautions: Keep away from drains, water and soil. Advise authorities if spilled material has entered water courses or sewer or has contaminated soil or vegetation.
Clean up methods: Absorb or contain liquid with sand, earth or spill control material. Collect and place in a labelled sealable container for subsequent safe disposal. Flush contaminated area with plenty of water. Put leaking containers in a labelled drum or overdrum.
Handling and storage
Storage: Storage area should be cool and dry. Store in a well-ventilated place. Store in a bunded area. For containers use mild steel or stainless steel. Do not store in plastics or natural, butyl, polychloroprene or nitrile rubbers.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Technical control measures: No specific measures required.
Eye protection: Protective goggles with side-shields
Hand protection: Gloves made from butyl rubber, Neoprene™ rubber or nitrile rubber.
Body protection: Neoprene™ apron. Rubber boots.
Stability and reactivity
Conditions to avoid: High temperatures. Prolonged exposure to air/oxygen and light.
Materials to avoid: Oxidising agents.
Hazardous decomposition products: Oxides of carbon on combustion.
Disposal considerations
Container disposal: Drain container thoroughly before disposal. Send to drum recover or metal reclaimer.
