CAS number: 161907-78-4
A complex mixture of oxygenated hydrocarbons produced by the distillation of residues from the manufacture of ethylene glycol monoethyl ether. It consists predominantly of a mixture of di-, tri-, tetra- and pentaethylene glycol monoethyl ethers having carbon numbers predominantly in the range C6 to C12 and boiling in the range of approximately 200°C to 300°C (392°F to 572°F).

There is no data available for the substance itself. A limited number of
values are available for the density of one of the main components of
this UVCB substance, 2-(2-(2-ethoxyyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol. According to
the read across justification document attached to chapter of the IUCLID
registration dossier, the density is not likely vary significantly
between the components of this UVCB substance so the latter can be
regarded as a surrogate substance to provide the data for this end
point. No single source of data for 2-(2-(2-ethoxyyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol
is completely reliable but all values are consistent and therefore
combined these are regarded as sufficient for this end point. The value
used for the key parameter is the only one quoted at 20C.
