Description of key information

The test substance is not considered capable of possessing oxidising properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

The oxidising properties of MK92K were determined in accordance with EU Method A.17 (Oxidising properties [solids]) and EU Method A.21 (Oxidising properties [liquids]).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The chemical structure of the known and reasonably expected components of the test substance indicates the test substance would not be considered to possess oxidising properties as whilst it contains oxygen and chlorine atoms, these are bonded to carbon only. Whilst there is some propan-2 -ol present which could form peroxides this is considered unlikely under normal conditions, as usually this is only observed under confined heating conditions, and would usually be accompanied by an exothermic event. As evident from the DSC heating test conducted as part of the explosive properties screen there was no thermal activity observed under such conditions, and so the production of peroxides can therefore be ruled out. MK92K is therefore not considered to possess oxidising properties.
