Justification for classification or non-classification

It is proposed that the substance is classified according the Dangerous Substances Directive (67/548/EEC) as Corrosive (R34) ‘Causes burns’ and according to the CLP Regulation (1272/2008) as Corrosive (Skin Corr. 1B) with the hazard statement (H314) Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. This classification is proposed in the absence of specific data, but based on the low pH of the substance. The use of the additional risk phrase (R41) ‘Risk of serious damage to eyes’ is implicit under the Dangerous Substances Directive and is not required.
