Description of key information

The test substance has a melting point of 147.3 °C to 160.1 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Key study:

The melting point of the test substance was determined according to OECD 102 by the capillary tube method in liquid bath. Calculated values of the beginning temperature of the melting point of the test substance ranged from 146.9 °C to 147.7 °C. The values of the beginning temperature of the final stage (no solid particles state) of the test substance ranged from 158.9 °C to 161.7 °C. The thermal analysis with the TG/DTA instrument was unstable to determine the melting point of the test substance, an alternative capillary tube method in liquid bath was performed. As a result, it was demonstrated that the melting and discoloration of the test substance began at temperatures of 147.3 °C and 160.1 °C, respectively. These results were consistent with the result of the HPLC analysis, which showed that the test substance was stable up to 155 °C. Therefore, it was concluded that the melting range of the test substance, calculated as the mean temperature at the beginning points of melting and the mean temperature at the beginning points of the final stage, was from 147.3 °C to 160 °C.

Supporting study

The melting point of the test substance was determined in an additional study according to OECD Guideline 102 by capillary method. Under the conditions of this test a melting point of 150 °C was determined for the test substance.
