Description of key information

The flash point of IOA using a Pensky-Martens closed cup flash point apparatus is 90.6 °C (ASTM method D93)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Flash Point of IOA was assessed in two studies. The determination of the flash point in the key study was based on ASTM D93 guidance and was GLP-compliant. Similarly, using a Pensky-Martens closed cup flash point apparatus, the supporting study determined a flash point of 93 °C. The supporting study was also GLP compliant and followed internationally accepted guidelines EC no. 440/2008, Part A.9, similar to the key study, both studies producing comparable results. Both studies are considered reliable without restrictions, relevant and valid to this endpoint. As per the REACh Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance, section R.7.1.9.3, “When multiple values of equal validity are available, in the interests of safety, the lowest one should be used”. It is the sponsor’s judgment that the best assessment of flash point for IOA is the lowest reported value of the two studies
