Description of key information

The substance is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

The half-life in soil is 1.3 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.3, Column 2, soil simulation testing does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. NOP is readily biodegradable (81% in 28 d, OECD 301F, BASF AG, 1992; see IUCLID Ch. 5.2.1). Therefore, no soil simulation study will be provided.

However, a study on the degradability in soil is available. The study was performed according to EPA guideline subdivision N, section 161-2 (Saxena, 1992). The substance was degraded to 61.5% CO2/ThCO2 after 43 d ina sandy loam. Transformation products were not specified. The half-life was determined to be 1.3 days.
