other: A change in colour of the test substance after the experiments (white to yellowish coagulated residues in the sample container) was noted. It was judged to be due to reaction and/or decomposition of the test substance.

Executive summary:

The melting point of sodium toluenesulfonate was determined according to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals No. 102: "Melting Point / Melting Range", July 27, 1995.

The melting temperature of the test substance was determined using diffential scanning calorimetry (DSC). After the experiment, a white, yellowish coagulated residue remained in the sample container. The change in the colour (original colour: white) indicated reaction and/or decomposition of the test substance. No melting temperature of Sodium toluenesulfonate was observed in a temperature range up to 400 °C.
