Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
IF SWALLOWED: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding
environment.
Special exposure hazards in a fire: Not combustible.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Sweep up to prevent slipping hazard. Avoid dust formation. Refer to protective measures listed under
"handling and storage"
Methods for cleaning up: Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal. Avoid dust formation. Keep in properly
labelled containers. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Treat recovered material as described in the section
"Disposal considerations".
Handling and storage
Wash with water thoroughly after handling; do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Exposure controls:
Ensure adequate ventilation. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Refer to protective
measures listed under “handling and storage”. Apply technical measures to comply with the occupational exposure limits.
Occupational exposure controls
Please refer to the exposure scenarios for RMMs (chapter 13)
Stability and reactivity
Stability: Stable under recommended storage conditions. Contact with acids liberates CO2.
Materials to avoid: Incompatible with acids.
Hazardous decomposition products: Barium oxide.
Disposal considerations
Waste from residues / unused products:
In accordance with local and national regulations. Use a solution of sodium or magnesium sulphate or possibly a dilute solution of
sulphuric acid to form a sulphate precipitate. Can be landfilled, when in compliance with local regulations.
Packaging treatment: Containers that cannot be cleaned must be treated as waste or must be incinerated in a suitable
incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities.
