Conclusion

The flash point of the test item was 99.0°C ± 1.0°C (corrected value).

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
A flash point value of 99.0°C ± 1.0°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a relevant test method and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable.

Description of key information

Flash point: 99.0°C ± 1.0°C at 1013 hPa (ISO 3679)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
99 °C

Additional information

A measured flash point value of 99.0°C ± 1.0°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a rapid equilibrium closed-cup method in accordance with ISO 3679 Test Method and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as key study.

In Bimsner 2001, a flash point value of 51°C at 1013 hPa was reported for the substance but the result is not used for assessment purposes because the report lacks details which include information on the purity of the test substance.

In available secondary sources to which reliability could not be assigned, flash point values of 68°C and 86°C were reported for the substance. Variations in the flash point may be due to variations in the test method or test substance purity.

A flash point of 99.0°C ± 1.0°C at 1013 hPa and boiling point of 221°C at 1017 hPa indicate that the substance should not be classified for flammability in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
