Reliable acute toxicity tests results are available for freshwater fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss), invertebrates (Daphnia magna) and algae (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata). LC50 or EC50 values for the three organisms were all greater than the water solubility of the substance (1.6 mg/l). A NOEC of ≥1.6 mg/L was determined in the algal test. Under the flow-through conditions employed in the tests, the fish and daphnia were predominantly exposed to the test substance. However, it is likely that under the static test conditions the algae were predominantly exposed to the hydrolysis products of the substance.

As the substance hydrolyses very rapidly, it is appropriate to also consider studies carried out for the hydrolysis product, dimethylsilanediol.Reliable acute toxicity tests results are available for dimethylsilanediol for freshwater fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss), invertebrates (Daphnia magna) and algae (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata)). LC50 or EC50 values for the three organisms are all >100 mg/l. A NOEC of ≥118 mg/L was determined in the algal test.
