Based on the physico-chemical properties of hexylene glycol (high solubility and low Log P), it is considered that it will not to adsorb to suspended solids, sediments and soils and are mobile in soil. The potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic or terrestrial species is also considered as negligible.

Using modeling approach, it is possible to roughly estimate possible transport between environmental compartments. This approach indicate that hexylene glycol will mainly partition between water and soil (45.1 and 53.1% respectively) (Mac Kay modeling Level III)

Behavioural information available demonstrates that hexylene glycol is not stable in environmental conditions.

It can be considered that hexylene glycol is ready biodegradable and does not raise concern in terms of persistency. Hexylene glycol being readily biodegradable, hydrolysis test is not required and this endpoint is therefore waived.
