Conclusion on classification

Adequate screening-level data are available to characterize the environmental hazard for the purposes of the REACH dossier. Hexylene glycol is readily biodegradable and all acute aquatic toxicity tests indicate LC50/EC50 higher than 1 mg/L. In addition, the available long-term 72h-NOEC for algal growth rate inhibition is also above 1 mg/L. Finally, log Kow of hexylene glycol is lower than 4.

Therefore, hexylene glycol is not considered dangerous for the environment according to criteria of CLP regulation EC 1272/2008.
