Description of key information

Hexylene glycol is a liquid, with a melting point of - 50°C and a boiling point of 197°C at 1013 hPa. The vapour pressure of hexylene glycol is reported as 6.66 Pa at 20ºC. Hexylene glycol is fully miscible in water, and has a calculated n-octanol water partition coefficient (log Kow) < 1.00. Hexylene glycol is less dense than water with a reported density of 0.923 g/cm3 at 15°C. Hexylene glycol is non-flammable, with an autoignition temperature of 306ºC, and a flash point of 93°C,and it does not posses oxidizing or explosive properties. Hexylene glycol is a viscous liquid with a reported viscosity of 34 mPa.s at 20°C.
