Description of key information

Substance decomposes before boiling (OECD 103). Because of high reactivity, the boiling point of 2-ethylhexanol is used as a key value in CSA.

Additional information

The boiling point of titanium tetrakis(2 -ethylhexanolate) was carried out in accordance with GLP as per OECD guideline 103 by using differential scanning calorimetry. Boiling point was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started. The boiling point was not reported in the key study report owing to decomposition of the test substance.

Because of the rapid hydrolysis, the read-across data on the boiling point of 2 -ethylhexanol released from the substance is used as a key value in exposure assessment when relevant (peer-reviewed secondary source, Lide 2008).
