Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Acute toxicity to fish: After 96 h a LC50 of 8.6 mg/L was determined for Androstendion towards fish. The result is expressed in terms of geometric mean measured concentrations.

Acute toxicity to daphnia: After 48 h an EC50 of 21.4 mg/L was measured. The NOEC for 48 h was 1.0 mg/L, the LOEC was 2.3 mg/L. The results are relating to measured concentrations (measured by TOC).

Toxicity to freshwater algae: The 72 h-EC50 for growth rate reduction based on TWA concentrations was 25 mg/L (95 % confidence interval 18 to 33 mg/L). The NOEC for growth rate reduction equalled a TWA concentration of 2.5 mg/L.

Toxicity to microorganisms: Up to a saturated solution, there was no effect on growth of Pseudomona putida. Therefore, the 16 h-EC10 was determined to be higher than a saturated solution (49.5 mg/L).

All toxicity studies mentioned above are classified as acceptable and satisfy the guideline requirements for the toxicity studies on acute toxicity to aquatic organisms.
