Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In the studies described, Dichloroacetyl chloride had no significant carcinorgenicity. The substance contains the following impurities which are classified as follows according to Directive 67/548/EC:

- 0.2 % trichloromethane (CAS 67 -66 -3): Carc. Cat. 3, R40

- 0.9 % 1,1,2-trichloroethene (CAS 79 -01 -6): Carc. Cat. 2, R45

Since the substance Dichloroacetyl chloride contains an impurity classified as Carc. Cat. 2, R45 in a concentration above 0.1%, the substance is classified as Carc. Cat. 2, R45.

According to the CLP Regulation, the impurities mentioned above are classified as follows:

- 0.2 % trichloromethane (CAS 67 -66 -3): Carc. Cat. 2

- 0.9 % 1,1,2-trichloroethene (CAS 79 -01 -6): Carc. Cat. 1B

Since the substance Dichloroacetyl chloride contains an impurity classified as Carc. Cat. 1B in a concentration above 0.1%, the substance is classified as Carc. Cat. 1B.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the Directive 67/548/EC, since the substance Dichloroacetyl chloride contains an impurity classified as Carc. Cat. 2, R45 in a concentration above 0.1%, the substance is classified as Carc. Cat. 2, R45.

According to the CLP Regulation, since the substance Dichloroacetyl chloride contains an impurity classified as Carc. Cat. 1B in a concentration above 0.1%, the substance is classified as Carc. Cat. 1B.
