The water solubility of the test substance is estimated to be <0.002 mg/L. An analytical method for detecting the substance at such low concentrations is not available. In the presented aquatic studies, the organsims were therefore exposed to saturated concentrations. Results are based on nominal concentrations.

To assess the aquatic toxicity of 2-ethyl-N,N-bis(2-ethylhexyl)hexylamine acute studies for fish and aquatic invertebrates are available. Effects of 2-ethyl-N,N-bis(2-ethylhexyl)hexylamine towards fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were determined to be > 464 mg/L (LC50, nominal) (BASF AG ,1985).

With Daphnia magna an EC50 (48 h) of >100 mg/L based on nominal concentrations was determined (BASF SE, 2010). No chronic effect was observed up to the highest tested concentration of 10 mg/L (NOEC repro. Daphnia magna >= 10 mg/L; BASF SE, 2014).

With regard to inhibitory effects on algae growth, the 72 -h ErC50was determined to be > 100 mg/L based on nominal concentrations (BASF SE, 2010).

The toxicity to microorganisms was determined in a GLP short-term respiration test similar to OECD guideline 209 using domestic activated sludge. After 180 min the EC10 was 970 mg/L based on nominal concentrations (BASF, 2010).
